Design Service
At Bergson & Eaton we work together with you in the design process, giving you creative control to produce outstanding conservatory designs that are truly stylish, individual and unique.
We will need some recent photographs of your home and garden, some approximate measurements and your ideas for the design - our experienced designers will do the rest - creating a three-dimensional computer generated image, showing in detail every angle of your new conservatory. All part of our free design and quotation service, that won't cost you a penny!
Survey
Following the initial meeting, we will arrange a visit from one of our expert surveyors in order to take detailed measurements and discuss finer details for the conservatory, such as the exact positioning of the doors and windows, whether they are French doors, patio doors or bi-folding doors. If planning permission is needed, Bergson & Eaton can arrange it with the local councils in the Home Counties.
Installation
Bergson & Eaton organise all of the work needed on your conservatory, using their own construction and fitting staff. We will take care of everything from digging the foundations to fitting the roof and glass. We will also provide you with an exact schedule that you can adapt to suit your preferences.
Build Process
Customers are often put off the idea of installing a conservatory due to the disruption it could cause in their home, along their street and to their day-to-day lives. However, at Bergson & Eaton we strive to provide a stress-free service, one that has been frequently praised as you can see on our testimonials page. Not only is the experience quick and easy, but our staff are regularly complimented on their punctuality, attitude and work ethic.
Finishing
At Bergson & Eaton we never leave a job unfinished. This means that we will, once the conservatory has been installed, we will tend to the plastering, the fitting of electrical sockets and lights, and even the fans if necessary. Unlike some other firms, we clean up after ourselves!

Which type of Conservatory roof, glass or polycarbonate?
At Bergson & Eaton we help you to choose the right type of roof for your beautiful new conservatory. We offer a choice of solar controlled glass or polycarbonate. Our experienced staff will advise you to help you make the right choice, to produce comfortable living conditions within your conservatory throughout the year...
Our double glazing units are made from either laminate or toughened safety glass, as well as Pilkington Self Cleaning Glass. We use these in our glass roofs, which will dampen the sound of rain and other precipitates better than polycarbonate roofing making your conservatory quieter during wet weather. We recommend the highest thermal efficiency unit your budget allows as in the long-term this requires less maintenance and works out to be less expensive. In addition to this, we can provide tinted glazes such as anti-sun glass in bronze, green, grey or blue in order to prevent overheating and reduce glare, as well as patterned glazing in a variety of shapes to your taste.
Polycarbonate Roofing
This type of roofing is practical and economical. It is both lightweight and tough, highly durable and and acts as an effective filter for both UV and sunlight.

The Right colour finish makes your Conservatory truly unique.
At Bergson & Eaton we offer a vast range of colour finishes for uPVC conservatories. Adding your choice of colour makes it stylish and unique and will stand out from the crowd. Whilst brilliant white is still very popular for uPVC conservatories, choosing coloured frames with a natural woodgrain texture is definately on the increase. They have the look and feel of natural stained wood and are difficult to tell apart just by appearance. Being uPVC they do have the advantage however of being virtually maintenance free and highly secure.
An enormous choice ... plus colour match service
As well as our coloured woodgrain range, we can apply an extra coat of special, protective, weatherproof paint to the uPVC frames to match any colour of your choice. This again is almost maintenance free, almost never needs to be repainted and is guaranteed for 10 years.

Conservatory Glass & Glazing Options
While we often recommend clear glass for the top openers and side frame windows, at Bergson & Eaton we offer coloured, leaded and beveled glass in a broad range of styles and colours that will make your conservatory as individual as you are.
Beveled glass is stylish and provides the appearance of depth, whilst coloured glass can be used to add real "design flair" to your conservatory. In addition we offer leaded windows, in both diamond or Georgian patterns for a more traditional feel.

Planning Permission & Building Regulations for Conservatories
Bergson and Eaton will make all the required Planning Permission & Building Regulations applications with your local authority before you build your new conservatory
Adding a conservatory to your house is considered to be permitted development, not needing an application for planning permission, subject to the limits and conditions listed below.
- No more than half the area of land around the "original house"* would be covered by additions or other buildings.
- No extension forward of the principal elevation or side elevation fronting a highway.
- No extension to be higher than the highest part of the roof.
- Maximum depth of a single-storey rear extension of three metres for an attached house and four metres for a detached house.
- Maximum height of a single-storey rear extension of four metres.
- Maximum depth of a rear extension of more than one storey of three metres including ground floor.
- Maximum eaves height of an extension within two metres of the boundary of three metres.
- Maximum eaves and ridge height of extension no higher than existing house.

Building Regulations
Building regulations will generally apply if you want to build an extension to your home.
However, conservatories are normally exempt from building regulations when:
- They are built at ground level and are less than 30 square metres in floor area.
- The conservatory is separated from the house by external quality walls, doors or windows.
- There should be an independent heating system with separate temperature and on/off controls.
- Glazing and any fixed electrical installations comply with the applicable building regulations requirements (see below).
You are advised not to construct conservatories where they will restrict ladder access to windows serving rooms in roof or loft conversions, particularly if any of the windows are intended to help escape or rescue if there is a fire.
Any new structural opening between the conservatory and the existing house will require building regulations approval, even if the conservatory itself is an exempt structure.
If you require further information about Planning Permission and Building Regulations, please contact us we will be pleased to advise.
