Add value to your home with a conservatory or orangery

Around this time of year, weather permitting, you’ll likely find yourself yearning to bask in the rays of the summer sun, who doesn’t? Especially when the sun tends to be covered by clouds the vast majority of the time!

It should come as no surprise then that during the summer months, the enquiries we receive tend to favour our extensive Conservatory and Orangery ranges.

As such, we thought we’d take a look at both and highlight what we feel are the major benefits of owning a home improvement such as this.

Add space to your place

It may be an obvious statement that adding a conservatory or orangery will grant you with extra space but what are you going to do with it?

Long gone are the days whereby a conservatory was just a place to put plants and wicker furniture. With the advances in the materials used and the construction techniques applied, you aren’t really limited in what you can use them for.

The only limit is your imagination!

Which leads us perfectly onto…

Let your creative side shine

It used to be the case that conservatories and orangeries were essentially greenhouses that attached to your property. The main focus being to create a good, stable environment for growing fruits and exotic plants. This certainly isn’t the case anymore, although they are still a great option for the green-fingered among us!

We recommend that people view the conservatory or orangery just as they would any other room in the house. Over the years we’ve turned these new spaces into everything from a pool house, a table tennis room and even a fully functioning bar.

Much more popular though, given that they are usually constructed on the back of the house, are the options to extend a kitchen to incorporate a dining area and extending the living room so that it opens seamlessly into the garden.

If either of these rooms in your house is starting to feel quite snug, an orangery or conservatory build could be just the solution you’ve been looking for.

Due to the fact that all of our conservatories and orangeries are completely bespoke, it should be noted that they can be sculpted to fit any purpose or property.

Add value and increase interest

If you’re looking to list your property for sale you may well thank your lucky stars that you had a conservatory or orangery built on the premises.

An extended property, especially one extended via a bespoke orangery or conservatory, makes it more sought after, as you can imagine. Making your premises a more attractive option than others will be key to your success come sale time.

Channel 4’s Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsop tell us that having a development such as these on your home can greatly improve the chances of a swift transaction. Phil actually lists it at position 2 on his Telegraph article – ‘Phil Spencer’s top 20 ways to add value to your home’.

What people don’t realise is that the amount of value it adds to a sale can dwarf the costs of the build itself! It’s quite astonishing to think that you can enjoy the benefits of having one and then profit from it after years of use.

So if you’re aiming to use your current property as a stepping stone to a bigger property, an addition such as an orangery or conservatory could be one of the best things for you.

There is much research available that suggests a conservatory or orangery can enhance the value of your property by 6 – 10 %, obviously this depends on the quality of the craftsmanship and materials.

A ‘flat-pack’ conservatory kit certainly won’t add this sort of value. Thankfully we only employ the proven master tradesmen and utilise the industry’s best materials so there is no need to worry about any cheap ‘flat-packery’.

If you’re not sure whether a conservatory is best suited to your property, or an orangery, get in touch and let us help you make the right choice.
